About Ed Foreman is the only person in 100 years to be elected to the U.S. Congress from two states—New Mexico and Texas. He’s had enormous success as an entrepreneur, and for more than a quarter century, he has been helping people to have better lives with his Successful Life Course. Here are some of his principles for having a terrific day every day: “Life comes to you every day and says, Here’s the menu for the day. You can either have a terrible day or a terrific day. And you get to choose the side of the menu you are going to take.” Put something positive in your mind when you first wake up. “When you first awaken, you’re at the alpha level of your subconscious mind, which is the maximum brain energy learning level. And whatever you put into your mind during those first few minutes begins the programming of your day.” Take a walk in the morning to watch the world wake up. “Observe the beauty in nature around you, smell the freshness in the air, begin to appreciate and give thanks for the many blessings you enjoy.” If you are thinking about unhappiness or adversity, change the channel. “I tell people to think about what you’re thinking about. And if you’re not thinking good thoughts, then change the channel to what you want to have happen.” “My definition of success is the difference between where you are and the use of your full potential. Each of you has a multiplicity of talents, and you need to exercise all of your potential to reach your dreams,” Hansen says.
Sometimes we forget how blessed we are to have safe products that WORK. Because we just use them everyday, and emergencies or close calls are few and far between (thankfully).
As many of you know I have a 6 year old capuchin monkey (yes a real one like from Pirates of the Caribbean, minus the curse). Well tonight she was watching her brother (my 19 year old son) through an open window that has no screen. She quick as can be reached out and grabbed a bee, clasped it in two hands, got stung, screamed and threw it out the window.
She was jumping up and down, shaking her hands, and very distressed. I needed to be able to grab her, see if a stinger needed removed, check her breathing and heart rate immediately. All she knew was she was in pain and NOT PLEASED.
I hollered MelaGel EMERGENCY hurry!!! And someone else in the house came running with the box of first aid stuff, ripped off the lid, not knowing what was happening, and watching her in serious pain and stress. He took of the lid, and I took a section out of the disk grabbed her hand and rubbed it on, then the other hand (still not sure WHICH hand got hurt) and rubbed it on that hand too. And held her close to check her heart rate and listen to her breathing.
In the seconds it took, to apply the melagel and grab her close — she was calm. Very calm, and it was very easy to see which hand was stung, since the other hand was now an annoyance of melagel that needed rubbed OFF and onto my shirt!
She settled right down, had part of her bottle, was not pleased that I used “too much” and she needed to keep wiping it off – laughs
She also licked at her hands, and licked a lot of melagel too and I did not have any worries at all that she would have another issue from ingesting it.
So the crisis became her annoyance, and she seems perfectly fine now and is in her bed!
THANK YOU Melaleuca!
sent this out today to my folks, and newsletter folks but thought some of you may also want to see the information.
Topical steroids are another name for a group of prescription only medications administered by doctors and dermatologists. Their uses are common for many skin disorders and diseases such as psoriasis, eczema, acne, dermatitis, and rashes.
Although they may work initially you will tend to rapidly develop a tolerance to them. These creams contain synthetic steroids, which are easily absorbed into your skin. Once absorbed they are able to stop a wide variety of inflammation causing chemicals that are normally released when your skin reacts to allergens or irritation.
If no remedial action is taken, the inflammation causing chemicals widen the blood vessels and cause redness and swelling. So the steroid cream prevents this release with in the skin; the inflammation is reduced and relief of symptoms like itchiness is provided.
However, these topical treatments often cause serious side effects both internally and to the skin itself.
Of the internal side effects, the most dangerous is probably the adrenal gland suppression. The use of topical steroids is also dangerous as it slows down the body’s production of natural steroids. That alone increases the likelihood of then attaining unforeseen illness once you stop using the cream.
In addition some of the more significant internal side effects include: Cushing’s Syndrome, fluid retention, raised blood pressure, diabetes, increased aggression, anaphylactic shock, birth defects, blood clotting, cancer, cardiovascular disease, depression, gynecomastia (that means male breast enlargement), hair loss, kidney and liver problems, prostate enlargement and testicular atrophy.
The side effects to the skin can also be very serious and can include (but are not limited to):
Skin thinning also known as atrophy, and stretch marks also known as striae. Thinning can also occur when steroids are applied under plastic gloves or bags. This is a short term treatment however that is used for very short periods of time and always under the direct supervision of a doctor or nurse.
The problem is that many people do not know about this serious side effect, and will often cover the greasy application on their own at home or when at work or school.
Easy bruising and tearing of the skin, and a rash around the mouth known as perioral dermatitis and enlarged blood vessels (telangiectasia) are other side effects.
And if that is not enough! It also leaves the skin susceptible to skin infections and can actually disguise an actual skin infection and or you may have or may develop an allergy to the steroid cream.
New formulations have recently been developed which have added the advantage of a once a day application, but it remains to be seen if these are any less likely to cause many of the side effects of the older steroids, or what new effects may be coming.
Here is to the day that every home is a Toxin Free Home!
