DEPRESSION IN TEENAGERS AND HOW WE CAN HELP THEM

Depression in teenagers is more common than one might think. Depression negatively affects your body, mood, and thoughts. It interrupts someone from enjoying life to the fullest, and it can get worse over time if left untreated. It is important that this topic is taken seriously because so many fail to recognize that they or someone they know has the condition. It does not get better by itself.

  • Do you know the warning signs of depression?
  • Are you aware of the dangers caused from depression?
  • How does one get depression?

Depression is a mental disorder often characterized by prolonged periods of sadness and melancholy, experts in the field of psychiatry say.

But just because a person is moping around and just generally hate the world around him or her does not mean that it’s already depression, but if this kind of behaviour, the feeling of emptiness, loss of self-worth and absolutely no hope for happiness just goes on and on, then, yes, this is very much individual, indeed, depressed.

Still, there are different forms of depression, or bipolar Manic depression – characterized by a sudden and extreme change in an atmosphere of a minute in which he or she is in an elevated state of euphoria while the next minute (day or week) he or she is feeling to be in a personal hell, postpartum depression – characterized by a prolonged sadness and a feeling of emptiness by a new mother, where physical stress during child birth, an uncertain sense of responsibility compared with the newborn baby may have been just some of the possible factors why some new mothers go through this, Dysthimia – characterized by a slight resemblance to depression, although this time it is already proven to be a much less serious, but obviously with every case, the immediately be treated, Cyclothemia – characterized by a slight resemblance to Manic or bipolar depression in which the person suffering from this mental disorder may occasionally suffer from severe changes in one of the votes, Seasonal Affective Disorder – characterized by a fall a rut only during certain seasons (ie Winter, Spring, summer or autumn) studies, however, evidence that more people actually on a decline of the rut in the autumn and winter seasons and, finally, mood, the atmosphere in which a person May shift of happy to sad to angry in just a short time.

Clinical depression, however, or as some might call as’ major ‘depression, is the medical term for depression. Actually clinical depression is more of an illness rather than a disease because it basically applies only to those who suffer from symptoms associated with depression. Clinical depression is how doctors usually refer to “depression” In providing a diagnosis of the patient. It is a medical term.

Despite that they have a real disorder, clinical depression can be treated. Doctors are very optimistic that their patients suffering from clinical disease is also on their way to good mental health when they are treated once they are diagnosed with clinical depression. Patients who are searching for treatments for clinical depression have proven very successful in their quest, given the fact that 80 percent of the true clinical depression patients have been treated and has found little relief from their illness.

For those who may be seeking some answers to their questions with respect to clinical depression, depression of the department of the health centre is highly recommended, as well as books on psychiatry and the Internet – which can offer a lots of useful information on clinical depression, although self-medication/treatment is strongly disapproved. Clinical depression may not pose as a threat as other forms of depression, but it is best to leave in the hands of professionals who can safely live and be cured of this disease.

PREGNANCY AND ISSUSE THAT RELATE TO POSTPARTUM

Pregnancy Alone Not A Risk for Mental Health Problems

MONDAY, July 7 (Health Day News) — Pregnancy alone isn’t associated with an increased risk of mental health disorders, a new study says.

It’s been suggested that pregnant women and those who’ve recently given birth are at high risk for psychiatric disorders, which can harm the health of their children, according to background information in the study.

To determine whether this was true, the study authors analyzed data from interviews with 43,093 people who took part in a survey on alcohol and substance abuse and psychiatric disorders. The respondents included 14,549 women, aged 18 to 50, who’d been pregnant within the past year.

“Past-year pregnant and postpartum women had significantly lower rates of alcohol use disorders and any substance use, except illicit drug use, than non-pregnant women,” wrote the study authors, from the New York State Psychiatric Institute.

Women who were pregnant at the time of the study had a lower risk of having any mood disorder, except major depression, than non-pregnant women. “Age, marital status, health status, stressful life events and history of traumatic experiences were all significantly associated with higher risk of psychiatric disorders in pregnant and postpartum women.”

Overall, pregnancy alone is not associated with increased risk of the most common mental disorders, the researchers concluded. However, they did identify certain groups of pregnant women with a particularly high prevalence of psychiatric disorders, including those aged 18 to 25 living without a partner, widowed, separated, divorced or never married, and those who experienced pregnancy complications or stressful life events.

“Given the critical importance of this life period for mothers and their offspring, urgent action is needed to increase detection and treatment of psychiatric disorders among pregnant and postpartum women in the United States,” the researchers wrote.
